Here are just a few of the most commonly asked questions about OnStar accounts, payments and pricing.
How do I set up my account online?
If you’re an OnStar Member, you can set up an account in your GM Account or tie your OnStar plan to your existing account. Visit your GM Account, and follow the instructions there.
Can I set up a monthly payment for OnStar?
Yes. You can set up a monthly payment using a credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover), debit card (with MasterCard or Visa) or PayPal account.
How much does the OnStar Guardian app cost?
The Guardian app is included with OnStar Safety & Security and OnStar One. Anyone who does not own a GM vehicle can purchase the Guardian app for $15/month plus tax. You can download it from the App Store®
What is the price increase?
We are increasing the price of select plans in Canada as follows: $2/month (plus applicable taxes) for the Preferred + Wi-Fi and Connected Vehicle plans and $3/month (plus applicable taxes and fees) for the Essentials, Premium and Safety & Security plans.
Subscriptions that include In-Vehicle Data or Super Cruise will only receive the price change on the OnStar services. The prices for In-Vehicle Data, Super Cruise, Fleet subscriptions, the Remote Access Plan and OnStar Guardian are not subject to this price increase.
When will new customers see the price increase?
Beginning on November 6, 2024, the prices for new subscriptions in the U.S. and Canada will reflect the $2 or $3 price increase, which will apply to OnStar plans purchased on or after November 6, 2024. We will be sending notices to existing customers with information about the price increase, including the effective date of the change.
