With OnStar vehicle data plans, you can use In-Vehicle Apps and connect up to seven compatible devices to stream, download, surf, post and more, all from the comfort of up to 15 metres away from your vehicle’s Wi-Fi® Hotspot.* This data plan will also be consumed by Voice & Maps apps already connected via your vehicle's OnStar Basics plan which you otherwise would have received at no additional charge.

What is OnStar Basics?

For My25 vehicles, OnStar Basics (previously known as OnStar One Essentials) is included for 8 years with your vehicle purchase. OnStar Basics provides built-in voice assistance for hands-free help on the road and real-time traffic and navigation. Better control with the convenience of controlling your vehicle from anywhere with select mobile app commands. Plus, Automatic Crash Response will quickly connect and send help if you need it. Now you can feel more connected on and off the road with core OnStar services.

What OnStar services are included with a 2025 model year vehicle purchase?

Log in to your account for information about the services and terms* included with a new retail purchase in Canada.

*All services are subject to change or termination without notice. 

How can I determine a vehicle’s included content?

You can refer to your vehicle’s window sticker or the vehicle’s invoice to see which features are included. You can also log in to your account to view your vehicle’s included content.

What if I don't want included OnStar services?

While a customer may decline the OnStar services offer, the packages are considered included equipment and cannot be removed from the vehicle or deducted from the vehicle price.

What happens if I sell my vehicle to a new owner before the included features expire?

Any remaining term of the included features is transferable to the next owner. However, SiriusXM®* plans are not transferrable. Additionally, if you decline services and then sell your vehicle, the new owner can reactivate the included features before the term length is up. Only the remaining term would be available.

*Some features, including streaming content and listening recommendations, require GM connected vehicle services. GM connected vehicle services vary by vehicle model and require active service plan, working electrical system, cell reception and GPS signal. If you decide to continue service after your trial, your selected subscription plan will automatically renew thereafter. You will be charged at then-current rates. Fees and taxes apply. Do the included features change if I lease my vehicle?

There is no change to the included features if you lease your vehicle. As included content is transferable and part of the vehicle’s price, it does not change the financing or lease payment processes, regardless of the lease length (24-month, 36-month, etc.).

How do I activate included features?

The included features* will be activated during the OnStar online enrollment process at your dealership, where you must agree to the OnStar Terms and Conditions. Some services may require additional setup, such as selecting notification preferences or downloading the OnStar Guardian app.

Mobile Crash Response services are intended for use in select vehicles only and can connect automatically on Android devices only. Service coverage varies with conditions and location. Service availability, features and functionality vary by device and software version. Does the customer have to put a credit card on file to get these plans?

No. You do not need to put a credit card on file. The included features are automatically included in your vehicle purchase.

If I decline the included features but want to reactivate them, will the term length start over?

No, the term length will not start over. If you or a subsequent owner decide to reactivate before the term length is up, only the remaining term would be available.
